So, I've done a lot of self-searching and research, and I've narrowed down my future jobs into two catagories: business and journalism. Both of which I am very passionate about, and am willing to do almost anything to become sucessful in. Ultimately, I'd love to end up editing magazines, and things like that, but to get into that, you need journalism, and/or business and/or a fine arts degree.
So what I found out last night is this:
My father was born in England, and lived there for 5-6 years. He has a dual citizenship between the UK and Canada. Why this is important is because the best school in the world for journalism, (and one of the top business programs), is Nottingham Trent University (located, as you must assume, the United Kingdom).
Since I would be classified as an 'international student', tuiton to get into Nottingham would be 8-9000 pounds (roughly 16-18000 Canadian dollars). No way I would pay that.
But because my father is a dual citizen, that makes me his 'direct relative' allowing me to apply for 'home tuiton' and not 'international tuiton', because he is a citizen of the United Kingdom.
Home tuition for Nottingham University is 3-3500 pounds (roughly 6000 Canadian dollars). This is much more affordable, and much more worth it to be able to attend.
So that's kind of my big announcement-- that I am now seriously considering going overseas to get my education; it would be really sweet. Living and studying in Nottingham, England, with the 'home tuiton' instead of the 'international tuiton'.
Just... had to tell someone
